I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from UCSB in 2003 along with a BCLAD Emphasis and supplementary authorizations in Mathematics and Spanish. I was born in Sinaloa, Mexico, but I have been living in Santa Barbara since I was two. I taught kindergarten for 7 years at Cesar Chavez Charter. I am so excited to be part of Harding and its International Baccalaureate Program for this upcoming school year! My husband Marcelo is a high school teacher and we have two young children, Itzel (4) and Marcelo (3).

My name is Francine Steele. I recently joined the team at Harding University Partnership School with 30 years of teaching experience for the Santa Barbara Unified School District. My experience ranges from preschool through fourth grade. I earned my BA and teaching credential from California State University Dominguez Hills and taught in Los Angeles before moving here in 1981. As a seasoned educator, I am very excited to be involved with the International Baccalaureate Early Years Program here at Harding. Having grown up in a multicultural, multilingual home, in Southern California, I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I, myself, was in grade school. As teacher, it is this life-long love for learning that I profess; a love I still hold close to my heart and one that I hope to instill in all of my students as a gift they too can carry with them for all of their days.
