I received my teaching credential from Cal State Northridge and have been teaching at Harding since 1994. Weather, Journeys, Our Neighborhood at Work, solids, Liquids and Gases, Plant and Animal Needs, Math Explorations and Life skills/Character are a few of our areas of study. Most importantly, in first grade we take all the elements of our reading program and work very hard to understand that the goal of reading is comprehension. We have many opportunities to celebrate our achievements throughout the year!

I have been teaching for 11 years and have taught K, 1, 3, and 6. I received my Masters in Education and teaching credential from Lesley College in Boston, Massachusetts. I have been living in Santa Barbara for 8 years. I taught at Harding University Partnership School for 5 years and Washington School for 1 year before taking 2 years off to have a baby and be a stay-home mom. I live on the Mesa with my husband and two-year old daughter, and am happy to be back at Harding University Partnership School.

I have a BA in Cultural Anthropology, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Masters in Education from UCSB. I have worked in Reggio-Inspired Preschools for four years and have a special love for art and project-based learning. I am thrilled to teach at such a forward-thinking IB School, where students are engaged in hands-on, inquiry-based learning! When I'm not teaching, I am a big kid and an artist, completely inspired by chidren!

Mr. Diaz from the L.A. county Fire Dept visited. All first graders learned about what firefighters do at their job. Three students got to try on Mr. Diaz's gear and we had a lot of good questions for him. Thank you Mr. Diaz!

Linda from the Humane Society came and taught us how to be responsible pet owners.

The first graders in rooms 7, 8, and 9 created special "Things That Go" projects. Students made models of real things that go or imaginary things that go. We had fun walking through all he classrooms to view everyone's project. Notice how we used recyclable materials for our projects.
